Track Assembly

If your shower doors have a frame and slide back and forth instead of swinging outwardly, you will have a metal track along the top of the door. The track assembly houses a narrow pathway that is sized perfectly to hold rollers that are attached to your shower doors. If the track gets bent or damaged, it will prevent the shower doors from sliding as they should. Thankfully, you can pick up replacement track assembly kits at just about any home improvement store. 

Track Rollers

If you do have shower doors that slide, look carefully at the top of your shower doors and you will see that they are attached to rollers. These rollers are a critical component in the operation of your shower doors because that allow the doors to move along the track. It is not uncommon for these doors to grow loose with use, but they can be tightened with a simple screwdriver. If the rollers get damaged or bent, it is best to pick up replacements right away. 

Glass Panels

The glass panels create the main structure of any shower door. These panels of glass are made of shatter-resistant glass that is resilient to impact and temperature changes so they are as safe as possible. You will find some glass panels that are textured or have implemented frost for concealing the view into the shower but many panels are now made with clear glass as well. 

Handles

Handles are what you will grasp when you open or close your shower doors. The handles can be mounted on the glass panels or they may span the width of the door as a bar that you grasp to move the door. It really is not all that uncommon for shower door handles to get damaged, but a lot of homeowners choose to replace them every so often just to upgrade the appearance of the doors.
